Eth.link ENS Gateway Reactivates

The eth.link gateway, which enables users to access their .eth ENS domains over HTTPS, is now live under the eth.limo service.

Quick Take

  • Eth.link reactivates under eth.limo service.

  • A judge sides with the SEC over Consensys.

  • Core developers agree to split Pectra.

  • ArbitrumDAO approved Timeboost.

The eth.link gateway, which enables users to access their .eth ENS domains over HTTPS, is now live under the eth.limo service. The relaunch follows years of ownership disputes after the domain expired in 2022. Eth.link was initially owned by Virgil Griffith, an Ethereum developer serving a 56-month sentence for delivering a blockchain presentation in North Korea. ETH.LIMO, an alternative content delivery network solution, has collaborated with ENS Labs to power the eth.link domain. The gateway now offers full-featured support, including CCIP and ENSIP-10, subdomains, and compatibility with IPFS, IPNS, Swarm, Arweave, ARNS, and DNS over HTTPS. ENS domain holders can simply add .link or .limo to their ENS in a web browser to access their records over DNS.

Judge Sides With SEC In Consensys Lawsuit

U.S. District Court Judge Reed O'Connor has ruled in favor of the SEC, granting its motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Ethereum infrastructure provider Consensys. In April 2024, Consensys filed a lawsuit against the SEC, accusing the agency of regulatory overreach and an inappropriate expansion into regulating Ethereum. Over the past year and a half, Consensys has faced multiple disruptions from the SEC. The SEC first issued subpoenas to Consensys in 2023, followed by a Wells notice in 2024. Most recently, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Consensys related to its MetaMask Swaps and MetaMask Staking services.

Developers Agree To Split Pectra

Ethereum core developers agreed to split the upcoming Pectra upgrade into two separate hard forks. Client teams agreed to prioritize finalizing the current EIPs in devnet3, along with any necessary improvements. Core developer Alex Stokes mentioned that the scope for the second fork, named Pectra B, will be determined at a later stage. This split is intended to expedite the upgrade process, avoiding the delays associated with a single large fork. Pectra as a single fork would mark the largest fork in Ethereum's history, incorporating 20 EIPs. Devnet 3, which launched on Monday, includes eight of these EIPs.
