The mechanism allows users to stake OP tokens in a smart contract to give a chosen address priority in transaction ordering. The pilot will test how the model affects user behavior, especially among bots and market makers. It aims to create new utility and increase demand for OP tokens, while improving network efficiency. During the experiment, priority will depend on the amount and duration of OP staked. The system is currently live on the OP Sepolia testnet and will run for up to four weeks on OP Mainnet. After the pilot, OP Mainnet will revert to the standard priority gas auction (PGA) system.ETH Rangers Program ResultsThe Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Security Research Team released the outcomes of its ETH Rangers program, launched in 2024 to fund independent contributors focused on strengthening Ethereum’s security. Seventeen recipients worked on public goods security initiatives spanning vulnerability research, incident response, threat intelligence, tooling, and education. The efforts helped recover more than $5.8 million, uncover over 785 vulnerabilities, and identify around 100 North Korean (DPRK) operatives. Contributors, including team members from SEAL, also played a key role in responding to active exploits, freezing illicit funds, and raising awareness of emerging threats.Josh Stark Departs EFEthereum developer Josh Stark announced he is stepping away from the Ethereum Foundation, with his work concluding at the end of April. His departure comes just one day after Ethereum developer Trent Van Epps also revealed he left the organization. Stark joined the Ethereum Foundation in 2019, starting on the Special Projects team. During his time, he helped ship Ethereum’s biggest protocol upgrades and organizational changes, and co-led the Trillion Dollar Security (1TS) initiative. Stark emphasized that meaningful progress is never guaranteed, but that extraordinary problems demand extraordinary effort. He also said he plans to take an extended break to rest and reset.Other NewsLean Staking proposalUse cases lab ideasEthereum Security QF updatesBoundless Prover Node v1.4BA Tokenization WorkstreamSEC podcastDisclaimer: Content is for informational purposes only, not endorsement or investment advice.
