Ethereum 30 Second Finality
---------------------------

Ben Edgington, a researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, [published](https://ethdaily.io/ethereum-30-second-finality) findings from a stakeholder research project on Ethereum's finality roadmap, interviewing L2s, bridges, solvers, staking services, wallets, and institutional teams. The research found that finality in tens of seconds would unlock substantial benefits for most Ethereum use cases, and that target looks achievable in the near term compared to one-second finality.

The biggest beneficiary will be cross-chain infrastructure. Bridges and solvers advance capital while waiting for finality, and every minute of delay ties up capital and raises user fees. For L2s, faster finality improves deposit onboarding, blob-cost pricing accuracy, and private cross-chain messaging that cannot tolerate third-party solvers. The target sweet spot across stakeholders: 10 to 30 seconds for bridges and interop, under a minute for most interactive flows.

EthSystems Institutional Consulting
-----------------------------------

Three former Ethereum Foundation researchers have [launched](https://x.com/eth_systems/status/2077000602320805918) EthSystems, a for-profit company building confidential systems for institutional Ethereum. The founding team spent the past year at the EF as the Institutional Privacy Task Force, communicating with central banks, regulators, tier-one banks, and asset managers while shipping open source privacy infrastructure.

They note that institutions want to run real flows on Ethereum, inlcuding stablecoins, tokenized assets, settlement, but no bank will operate on public blockchains that expose every transaction by default. EthSystems is building confidentiality on Ethereum, including design, technical PoCs, consulting, workshops, architecture reviews, and production system integration for institutions.

LIFI Token Screening
--------------------

LIFI [integrated](https://ethdaily.io/lifi-token-screening) token reputation data from Hypernative, providing a standardized security signal for assets discovered through its liquidity aggregator. The feature screens tokens by blockchain and contract address and assigns one of three statuses: approved, denied, or unverified, with the assessing provider identified alongside the result. The screening data is exposed through [LI.FI](http://LI.FI)'s existing token endpoints.

LIFI partners can use the screening data to warn users about flagged assets, filter denied tokens from discovery results, and suppress flagged assets from appearing in wallet balances by default, replacing internal allowlists, denylists, and manual review processes for tokens.

Shutter Governance Goes Live
----------------------------

Shutter [released](https://ethdaily.io/shutter-launches-shutter-governance) Shutter Governance, an encrypted election system that combines homomorphic encryption, zero-knowledge proofs, and threshold cryptography. The solution enables ballots to remain encrypted while aggregated results can be independently verified by anyone, with no special access required. The system builds on Shutter's existing vote encryption solution for the Snapshot offchain governance voting protocol.
