Base launched Base Verify Onchain, a smart contract-native identity layer that enforces one-person-one-claim without apps collecting personal data or requiring KYC. Live on Base Sepolia today. It aims to address thousands of airdrop farmer run wallets, each indistinguishable onchain from a real user. Base Verify checks the identity behind a wallet against a connected real-world account such as Coinbase, Instagram, X, or TikTok, and returns a deterministic identity hash plus a signature. The smart contract stores the hash and rejects any future claim where it reappears. The same person always produces the same hash across all their wallets, so a farmer with a thousand wallets still counts as one. The hash cannot be traced back to a name or account.
