Brantly Millegan, a former Director of Operations at ENS and current founder of ethidorg, [announced](https://x.com/BrantlyMillegan/status/2073158255841251581) his departure from the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) ecosystem, marking the end of his decade-long involvement in the self-sovereign identity project. Following recent governance events, Millegan has removed the .eth suffix from his name and announced the wind down of his ethidorg development group.

Ethidorg has also [declined](https://x.com/BrantlyMillegan/status/2073158255841251581) a $1.2 million grant from the ENS DAO. The ethidorg team will sunset its ecosystem projects over the coming weeks, including the Ethereum Follow Protocol (EFP), Grails Market, and the ENS Market Bot, although their codebases will remain open source.

The sudden departures follow an intense governance debate centered on an ENS Labs proposal to transfer control of the entire $500 million ENS DAO treasury to the ENS Foundation. The controversy was amplified when ENS founder Nick Johnson self-delegated 3.1 million ENS tokens, representing roughly 45% of the seven million active votable ENS supply. With the transition, ethidorg teammates are open to new opportunities, concluding an influential chapter in the evolution of self-sovereign identity and Sign-In with Ethereum.
