Uniswap Wallet Integrates MEV Blocker

Swap protection shields users from front-running and sandwich attacks.

Quick Take

  • Polygon proposes for Celo to build on Polygon CDK.

  • Uniswap Wallet integrates MEV Blocker.

  • Kwenta Staking V2 goes live.

  • Vote to deploy Aave V3 on Polygon ZK-EVM.

Uniswap Wallet Integrates MEV Blocker

Uniswap Wallet integrated swap protection as a default feature on all Ethereum Mainnet transactions. Swap protection shields users from front-running and sandwich attacks. The added protection layer may result in slightly higher auto slippage for certain swaps to help increase the chances of a successful transaction. Swap protection is powered through the MEV Blocker RPC endpoint from CoW Protocol. MEV Blocker directs user transactions to a private mempool and even refunds users a portion of the MEV generated from their transactions. Swap protection is only available in Uniswap Wallet mobile. Users can disable the feature if desired.

Proposal For Celo To Launch On Polygon CDK

Polygon Co-Founder Sandeep Nailwal published a proposal seeking for the Celo Ecosystem to consider the deployment of its Layer 2 solution as a ZK-powered chain using Polygon CDK. The transition would provide Celo with EVM-equivalent compatibility, enhanced security through ZK proofs, low-cost transaction fees, and interoperability with other ZK-powered chains. Nailwal also offered implementation partners to support Celo core developers in deploying a CDK-based chain. The proposal comes after Celo Labs' own proposal to transform its L1 into an L2 network based on the OP Stack with EigenDA for data availability. Celo is an EVM L1 chain focused on payment infrastructure.

Kwenta Staking V2 Goes Live

Kwenta launched Staking V2, an upgrade to a new set of smart contracts that introduce a checkpoint system for tracking staked balances. The upgrade introduces the ability to transfer escrow entries, a two-week cooldown for unstaking, support for smart contract-based staking, early vesting, and auto-compounding rewards. Kwenta V1 stakers are required to manually migrate their positions to the new V2 contracts in order to continue receiving rewards. Only KWENTA staked in the v2 contracts will count towards DAO voting power. Kwenta is an Optimism-native perpetual DEX built on Synthetix.

Proposal To Deploy Aave V3 On Polygon ZK-EVM

A snapshot proposal to deploy Aave V3 on Polygon ZK-EVM is now open for voting. The initial deployment seeks to support WETH, WMATIC, and USDC as collateral for borrowing USDC. The deployment aims to expand Aave’s presence across L2 networks. Polygon ZK-EVM is an EVM-equivalent ZK Rollup with just over $18 million in TVL

Base Mainnet Opens For All Users

Base, an OP Stack chain by Coinbase, is now open for all users.

Quick Take

  • Base Mainnet opens for all users.

  • Stader Labs introduces Liquid Restaked Tokens.

  • Fluent unveils its zkWASM Execution Layer.

  • Karpatkey launches a DAO treasury dashboard.

Base Mainnet Opens For All Users

Base, an OP Stack chain by Coinbase, is now available on mainnet for all users. Users can mint a commemorative “Base, Day One” NFT, marking the launch of onchain summer. According to Coinbase, wallets that mint an Onchain Summer NFT are eligible for a 60 day trial of Coinbase One, a program for reduced CEX trading fees. Users can visit onchainsummer.xyz to mint an NFT each day this month. The NFTs feature artwork with partners like Coca Cola, Atari, and OpenSea. Over 100 dapps and infrastructure providers are now available on Base mainnet, including Aave, Uniswap, and Balancer. Base is now the fifth-largest rollup, with over $140 million in TVL.

Stader Introduces Liquid Restaked Token

Stader Labs introduced the Liquid Restaked Token (LRT), a synthetic receipt token that represents ownership of restaked ETH, including assets restaked on EigenLayer. Liquid Restaked Tokens increase capital efficiency by allowing holders to secure other applications, earn rewards, and further leverage their capital in DeFi. Stader Labs aims to address the challenges of node operation by introducing the LRT DAO, which will be responsible for selecting validators and staking services. End users will be able to deposit ETH and LSTs in exchange for LRTs. LRT contracts will then distribute tokens to various node operators and accrue rewards. Stader Labs is a liquid staking protocol that allows node operators to deploy a validator with as little as 4 ether and 0.4 ether worth of its native SD token. The protocol has its own liquid-staked token called ETHx. Stader plans to implement a multi-pool architecture similar to ETHx to facilitate the new restaking project.

Fluent zkWASM Execution Layer For Ethereum

Fluent unveiled its general-purpose zkWASM execution layer for Ethereum. Fluent seeks to allow developers to build apps on Ethereum written in Rust, TypeScript, and Go. Fluent consists of a ZK Rollup for scalability, WebAssembly VM for multiple language support, and EVM tooling for compatibility with existing infrastructure. Fluent is currently accepting applications for its early builders’ program ahead of a testnet release later this year.

Karpatkey Releases DAO Treasury Dashboard

Karpatkey, a DAO treasury risk manager, introduced its first public treasury dashboard, allowing users to track portfolio performance and token allocations. Users filter reports by month, year, and DAO. The monthly report provides a snapshot of capital utilization, farming results, and yield. Karpatkey currently manages treasuries for CoW Protocol, ENS, Gnosis, and Balancer.

Celo Proposes Transition To L2 OP Chain

The new L2 would be built on the OP Stack and would uses EigenDA for data availability.

Quick Take

  • Celo proposes to transition its L1 chain to a L2.

  • Aave’s GHO stablecoin goes live on mainnet.

  • zkSync airdrops an experimental NFT collection.

  • Unstoppable Domains adds support for ENS domains.

Celo Proposes Transition To L2 OP Chain

cLabs, the company behind Celo Network, introduced a proposal to transition its blockchain into an L2 network built on the OP Stack. The new L2 would also use an offchain data availability powered by EigenLayer. Known as EigenDA, the solution allows Ethereum restakers on EigenLayer to opt-in to secure DA for other chains. The proposal also outlines an architecture for leveraging Celo's existing validator set to power a decentralized sequencer. The proposal is currently under community discussion with a Celo governance call scheduled for Friday, July 21st. Celo is an EVM-compatible L1 blockchain focused on payment infrastructure.

Aave’s GHO Stablecoin Goes Live

GHO, an over-collateralized USD-pegged stablecoin native to Aave, is now live on the Aave V3 Ethereum Mainnet market. Users can now mint GHO against any supplied assets on the Aave V3 Ethereum market, including ETH, wstETH, rETH, UNI, SNX, and MKR. Users can currently borrow GHO at a 1.51% fixed APY. stAAVE holders also receive a 30% discount on the GHO borrow rate. Over 2.2 million GHO has already been minted. The multi-collateral stablecoin features a 100 million GHO borrow cap and allows borrowers to swap out their base collateral. The Aave DAO governs GHO, including its supply, interest rate, and risk parameters.

zkSync Airdrops 10k NFT Collection

zkSync airdropped 10,000 NFTs to a batch of users that have interacted with NFTs on zkSync Era. Since its mainnet launch, nearly 180,000 addresses have interacted with the top 100 NFT projects on the network. Coined as LIBERTAS OMNIBUS, the NFT collection features a mystery capsule to be revealed in the coming weeks. The collection was deployed as an experiment for testing new kinds of zkSync-native NFT collections. zkSync later announced plans to restart the distribution of the NFT project over the coming weeks along with an IRL minting experiment at EthCC. zkSync Era is currently the third largest L2 network with over $500 million in TVL.

Unstoppable Domains Supports ENS Domains

Unstoppable Domains, a Web3 domain name provider, now supports ENS domain registrations. The integration allows users to purchase .eth domains using a credit card and without needing to connect a crypto wallet. Domains can be stored in a private vault managed by Unstoppable and can later be migrated to user’s wallet. The integration also features an option for auto-renewal. Unstoppable Domains says ENS domains purchased through its platform will be registered via the ENS smart contract to ensure no naming conflicts. Future updates will include direct support for managing ENS domain records, including crypto addresses, avatars, and profile data.

Liquity Announces Liquity V2

Liquity, a stablecoin protocol that currently only supports ETH collateral, announced Liquity V2, a new iteration of its protocol that will feature leveraged borrowing and support for liquid staking token collateral types. The V2 upgrade aims to solve the stablecoin trilemma, striking a balance between scalability, stability, and decentralization. The upgrade will also offer a competitive DeFi-native yield source by introducing a yield-bearing stablecoin. Liquity plans to launch the V2 upgrade in 2024.
