# DV Labs Shuts Down Aztec Sequencer

DV Labs, the proof-of-stake infrastructure team formerly known as Obol Labs, is winding down its Aztec sequencer, citing operational costs that outweighed returns. The sequencer, which it has run since genesis, will stop proposing on August 14, with the team fully exiting on August 15, 2026. DV Labs said a mid-year change made its high-availability sequencer setup a slashable offense, forcing a revert to a single-node configuration that couldn't sustain the needed performance. Several of its sequencers were subsequently penalized and exited, which the team says accounts for returned stake coming back 1–5% short of expectations. AZTEC token holders that have delegated their stake DV Labs are urged to initiate undelegation from their own wallets at stake.aztec.network by August 5 to allow the roughly nine-day unbonding period to complete before the August 15 exit. Missing that window could incur penalties. DV Labs said it will refocus on enterprise multi-operator Ethereum validator work.
