J.P. Morgan Deposit Token On Ethereum
J.P. Morgan launched JPM Coin (JPMD), its permissioned U.S. dollar deposit token, on Ethereum for institutional clients. The token represents actual USD deposits held at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, and access requires a U.S. bank account with the firm. The Ethereum launch follows JPM Coin’s earlier launch on Base, allowing institutional clients to transfer the deposit token across both networks.
J.P. Morgan cited Ethereum’s liquidity and depth of tokenized assets as reasons for adding the network. Kinexys, J.P. Morgan’s blockchain business unit, has processed more than $4 trillion in cumulative transactions and averages $7 billion in daily transaction volume, according to the firm. J.P. Morgan also has an existing tokenized money-market fund on Ethereum, called the My OnChain Net Yield Fund, or MONY.
World Introduces World ID For Banking
World Network, the digital identity network founded by OpenAI's Sam Altman, announced that World ID, its proof-of-human (PoH) identity verification layer, has expanded for banking and finance applications. World ID is a zero-knowledge based identity suite where users scan their iris with a physical device called an Orb. The biometric serves as a unique identity marker, which is established during account setup.
World ID is already supported in other applications, such as Zoom, where verified users can display a blue badge showing they are the human associated with their account. Institutions can require the same proof for sensitive calls. World ID for agents lets AI agents carry proofs delegated by people. Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital, and VanEck Funds are named as initial design partners.
Vitalik Buterin Pushes EIP-8288 For Lean Ethereum
Vitalik Buterin says EIP-8288 is the preferred way to support different cryptographic schemes without adding more precompiles. In a discussion about hash-based and lattice cryptography, Buterin described a model where users create signatures or perform other self-contained computations locally, then generate STARK proofs on their devices. Those proofs would enter a recursive aggregation mechanism, so Ethereum records that the computation occurred and its result.
Buterin argues that the EVM and precompiles are poor places for most cryptography because their inputs still need to be included onchain. He puts the practical data-throughput ceiling at about 8 MB per second, even with PeerDAS and blobs. EIP-8288 would aim to keep heavy computation out of Ethereum’s main execution thread while allowing users to choose different cryptographic schemes.
