# LI.FI Upgrades Core Pricing Engine

LI.FI [upgraded](https://li.fi/knowledge-hub/upgrading-lifis-token-service) its Token Service, the core pricing and discovery engine that powers quote across its interop and intents routing infrastructure. The upgrade, launched in partnership with CoinGecko, uses CoinGecko's API as the primary data source for token prices, metadata, and onchain asset discovery across 40 supported blockchains. It also introduces an eight-tier token bucketing system, dynamically classifying assets based on volume, volatility, and demand to match refresh frequencies with usage profiles.

CoinGecko is integrated through LI.FI's standardized oracle adapter layer, which supports fallback logic, circuit breakers, and additional providers without altering downstream quote structures. Volatile and high-activity assets receive second-by-second updates via WebSocket streams to improve quote accuracy. The upgrade aims to support reliable prices that enhance route comparison, slippage estimates, and execution quality for applications integrated with LI.FI's liquidity layer.
