# Mitsui Launches Commodity-Backed Tokens On OP Mainnet

Optimism [announced](https://x.com/jinglejamOP/status/2045140851215540481) that Mitsui & Co. Digital Commodities is launching commodity-backed crypto assets on OP Mainnet. The tokens are part of the Zipangcoin series issued by Mitsui & Co. Digital Commodities, consisting of Zipangcoin (ZPG) for gold, Zipangcoin Silver (ZPGAG), and Zipangcoin Platinum (ZPGPT), each designed to track the spot market price of its underlying metal. The tokens are set to begin listing on April 20, 2026. The tokens will be yield-bearing and backed by physical precious metals, operating within Japan's crypto-friendly regulatory framework.
