Nethermind 2.0.0 FlatDB Release

Nethermind released client version 2.0.0, introducing a flat state database as the default storage engine, reducing full Ethereum mainnet archive node requirements from roughly 30 TB down to approximately 2.1 TB. Operators can configure custom history profiles, selecting full archives, rolling block windows, retention from a specific block height, or per-address deep history slices for designated contracts.

Performance benchmarks show flat state processing blocks 1.8x to 2.55x faster at the chain tip compared to earlier baselines. The release speeds up block processing up to 3x and lowers RPC response latency. Full node operators should review configuration flags and adjust RPC query defaults as the release introduces breaking changes.

Safe Wallet Contracts v1.5.0

Safe{Wallet} released Safe contracts version 1.5.0 as the default standard for all newly created smart accounts, introduces Module Guards that ensure third-party module transactions adhere to standard security rules rather than bypassing account guardrails. The update tightens ERC-1271 contract signature validation, requiring custom smart contract owners to return valid signature magic values strictly matching standard specification formats.

Failed calls return specific revert reason strings rather than generic execution errors. Existing Safes on versions 1.3.0 and 1.4.1 can also upgrade through a single transaction under account settings. Account addresses, designated owners, signing thresholds, active modules, and existing transaction guards also remain unchanged. The update comes amid several third-party module incidents on Safe accounts this year.

Google Cloud Uses Puffer Preconfs

Puffer Finance partnered with Google Cloud to power the execution infrastructure for its rollup, Puffer UniFi. Under the agreement, Google Cloud joins the Puffer Preconf gateway registry as a registered operator, routing transactions, enforcing ordering policies, and delivering sub-50ms execution preconfirmations before final settlement on Ethereum L1. Commitments are backed by economic security, providing slashable downside protection if a gateway fails to honor an ordering pledge.

Puffer UniFi serves as the first deployment for Google Cloud's gateway, providing a configurable multi-gateway architecture where rollups can run parallel providers or fallbacks to eliminate single points of failure. The setup aims to reduce latency for high-frequency decentralized finance, autonomous AI agent commerce, and institutional trading across the more than $350 billion in tokenized real-world assets.

NYMIS Onchain Privacy Scanner

NYMIS introduced a privacy scanner designed to show publicly visible identity leaks and behavioral fingerprints associated with any Ethereum wallet address. Built using transaction and wallet clustering intelligence from Nansen, the tool scans for linked KYC services, historical funding trails, token transfer volumes, and deployed Safe smart accounts. The tool maps an address's operational footprint, including frequently used protocols, and interaction habits to highlight how easily distinct accounts can be tied to a single user. It also surfaces connected onchain social accounts and identity profiles.
