Stock Token Issuer Consent Framework
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev addressed the debate around tokenized equity issuance and whether corporate issuers should hold consent or veto authority over third-party tokenization. Tenev argued that corporate consent should depend on investor property rights, issuer authority, and technology neutrality. The comments come one week after AMC CEO Adam Aron demanded Robinhood to halt trading on AMC-linked stock tokens.
Robinhood Stock Tokens use a third-party model where instruments are backed 1:1 by underlying shares held through an offshore custodian, conferring economic exposure rather than direct shareholder voting rights. That approach contrasts with models offering direct legal share ownership, like Coinbase Tokenized Stocks, or 1:1 share-redeemable setups like Backpack. Tenev emphasized that securities settled onchain should not grant corporate issuers veto power over secondary market usage.
Devcon 8 Creators Program
The Ethereum Foundation Devcon team introduced the Devcon 8 Creator Fellowship, selecting 10 creators in the lead-up to Devcon Mumbai to produce stories, explain protocol developments, and cover the event. Selected fellows will receive one free Devcon ticket, exclusive perks, and recognition across official Devcon channels. Applications are open through September 20th.
