Reth bug stalls some nodes.
Holešky testnet shutdown details.
Twyne goes live on Ethereum.
The Ether Machine raised 150k ETH.
A bug was found in the state root computation of the Reth Ethereum execution layer client, which caused nodes to stall at block 23272427. The issue impacted node operators, including RPC providers using Reth such as Merkle and Defillama. The bug was confirmed to be affecting Reth versions 1.6.0 and 1.4.8. Paradigm shared safe recovery steps for both pruned and archive nodes, which take ~45 minutes to rebuild the trie before resuming sync. The Reth team is actively investigating the issue and has not yet released a patch. Track the bug on Ethstaker,
The Ethereum Foundation announced that the Holešky testnet, Ethereum’s largest public staking and validator testnet launched in 2023, will be shut down two weeks after the Fusaka upgrade finalizes, expected to occur in the coming months. Staking operators and infrastructure providers are advised to migrate their testing operations to Hoodi, a testnet created with a fresh validator set and full Pectra support. Application and tooling developers should migrate to Sepolia for smart contract and dapp testing. Ephemery is the newest testnet, designed for lightweight validator lifecycle testing with frequent resets.
Twyne, a credit-delegation protocol built on Euler, is now live on Ethereum mainnet. Twyne addresses two major inefficiencies of lending markets: idle lender capital and premature borrower liquidations. Twyne allows borrowers to rent unused borrowing power from lenders to boost their LTV ratio, protecting their positions from liquidations. Lenders get to earn APY on their previously idle deposits. According to Twyne, rented collateral could have saved 94% of liquidated borrowers on Euler. Twyne unlocks new levels of capital efficiency for both lenders and borrowers.
The Ether Machine, a leading corporate ETH treasury company, announced it has secured an additional 150,000 ETH, worth over $650 million, in committed capital for its strategic Ethereum reserve. The investment comes from Jeffrey Berns, Founder of Blockchains Inc., a startup focused on verifiable identity and reputation solutions. This latest commitment builds on the company’s previously announced $800 million in funding, bringing its total holdings and commitments to 495,362 ETH. The company aims to be the only purely Ethereum-focused institutional platform, built and operated by Ethereans.
ETHZilla, a corporate ETH treasury company, announced plans to allocate $100 million in ETH to EtherFi, the largest liquid restaking protocol with $11 billion in TVL. The initiative aims to enhance yields on ETHZilla’s ETH holdings while reinforcing Ethereum’s security. It also marks ETHZilla’s first DeFi-based treasury management strategy. With over 100,000 ETH in reserve, ETHZilla currently ranks as the eighth-largest corporate ETH holder.
