Kohaku Wallet CLI Ethereum Mainnet Release

Kassandra, researcher at the Ethereum Foundation's Kohaku Initiative, has released kohaku-cli, a terminal wallet for moving funds between public Ethereum accounts and private balances on Tornado Cash, Railgun, and Privacy Pools, now live on Ethereum mainnet. The CLI lets users create or import a seed phrase wallet, shield funds into any of the three supported privacy protocols, and unshield back to a fresh public address, all from the command line. The wallet encrypts seeds on disk and supports Sepolia testnet and Ethereum mainnet transactions. The release is not yet audited and under active development.

Base Announces Cobalt Upgrade

Base announced plans to ship the Cobalt upgrade in September, it's latest network upgrade that will bring native account abstraction with support for EIP-8130. Unlink its previous independent upgrades, Base is partnering with Optimism and WalletConnect to ship Cobalt, first on Base, then across other OP Stack chains later this year. The upgrade will enshrine ERC-4337 smart accounts capabilities, such as batched calls, gas sponsorship, session keys, sub-accounts, and key rotation, directly into the protocol layer. Base is also opening Base Vibenet, an ephemeral devnet for developers to test integrations.

Lighter Supports Stock Token Collateral

Lighter now supports Robinhood's Stock Tokens as collateral for perpetual futures trading on its DEX deplpyment on Robinhood Chain. Traders can back positions with exposure to $SPY, the tokenized version of the S&P 500 instead of parking idle stablecoins. Lighter says support for more Stock Tokens as collateral will follow. Robinhood Chain, an L2 built on Arbitrum, went live on public mainnet July 1 alongside the new Stock Tokens product.
