Morgan Stanley Investment Management launched the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (NYSE Arca: MSSE), an exchange-traded product tracking ETH. The ETP carries a 0.14% expense ratio and will stake a portion of its ETH holdings, passing the staking rewards through to investors. MSSE follows the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), which launched earlier this year as the first crypto ETP from a U.S. bank-affiliated asset manager and has grown to more than $381 million in AUM. Morgan Stanley has over $2 trillion in assets under management.
Freedom Factory introduced PQ1, a hardware wallet design that replaces every public-key primitive protecting a user's seed with hash-based or symmetric cryptography, aiming to close the attack window before quantum computers can break ECDSA signatures. The project published its full hardware schematics, firmware, and a roughly $150 bill-of-materials DIY build guide alongside the announcement. All transaction signing uses a stateless hash-based scheme whose only underlying assumption is SHA-256, rather than lattice-based alternatives. The team says it has engaged Trail of Bits to review the ERC-4337 account contracts, and has integrated with Ambire to handle clear-signing on the browser side.
Privacy Pools added payroll functionality on the testnet version of its v2 protocol, letting teams run recurring onchain compensation without exposing salary amounts or recipient addresses on public block explorers. Companies can add team members' names, addresses, tokens, and salary figures under a "team" tab, then execute payments as private transfers within the shielded pool; the tool logs past runs, exports history for accounting, and surfaces a dashboard of payroll activity. The feature is live now on the Sepolia testnet. Privacy Pools uses zero-knowledge proofs and commitment schemes to break the onchain link between a user's deposit and withdrawal addresses. The protocol currently holds roughly $8 million in total value locked, mostly on Ethereum mainnet.
Base launched Base Verify Onchain, a smart contract-native identity layer that enforces one-person-one-claim without apps collecting personal data or requiring KYC. Live on Base Sepolia today. It aims to address thousands of airdrop farmer run wallets, each indistinguishable onchain from a real user. Base Verify checks the identity behind a wallet against a connected real-world account such as Coinbase, Instagram, X, or TikTok, and returns a deterministic identity hash plus a signature. The smart contract stores the hash and rejects any future claim where it reappears.
