Base Delays B20 Token Activation

Deploying B20 native tokens is rescheduled for Friday at 6 PM UTC to ensure the Activation Registry is fully operational.

Base activated its Beryl network upgrade on mainnet on June 25, 2026, but delayed deploying the new B20 native token standard due to network stability issues and necessary timing alignments to fully enable the upgrade's underlying Activation Registry on mainnet.

Developers cannot deploy B20 tokens onchain until the B20 Activation Registry is fully operational, a process that can take up to one hour after Beryl's activation. Deploying early reverts with FeatureNotActivated. While B20 deployment is paused, the Beryl upgrade itself successfully cut canonical single-proof withdrawal times from seven days to five days and integrated Reth V2 to reduce node storage overhead by up to 50%.

CORRECTION: This article was updated to reflect that the Beryl network upgrade activated on June 25, 2026, as scheduled, and that only the B20 Activation Registry deployment was delayed to June 26.
