Base Mainnet suffered a roughly three-hour outage on June 25th after block production stalled at 16:03 UTC, beginning with block 47806542. The disruption stemmed from a consensus error that caused an invalid block to be sequenced, preventing any subsequent blocks from being built.
Base developers identified the root cause and initiated recovery efforts, restoring sequencer and internal node operation by 17:51 UTC. External node operators with stuck validator nodes have been advised to restart their software to resume syncing. Base confirmed that user funds were not at risk at any point during the incident.
The chain has since restored normal block production. Base last suffered a network outage in September 2023.
