Fidelity Investments announced plans to launch the Fidelity Digital Dollar (FIDD), its own U.S. dollar–pegged stablecoin. FIDD will be issued by Fidelity Digital Assets, National Association, and redeemable 1:1 for USD through Fidelity platforms. The product tagrets both retail and institutional investors. Fidelity will manage issuance, reserves, and daily transparency disclosures, with FIDD expected to launch on Ethereum mainnet in the coming weeks. The rollout comes as the stablecoin market reaches all-time highs above $300 billion and increased U.S. regulatory clarity for stablecoins with the GENIUS Act.
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said the company plans to introduce instant settlement, 24/7 trading, and self-custody for its tokenized stocks. First launched in June 2025, Robinhood's tokenized stocks are currently live on Arbitrum One, giving European customers access to more than 2,000 U.S. equities with 24/5 trading. Marking the five-year anniversary of the GameStop trading halt, Tenev said the episode reinforced his view that equity tokenization is the long-term solution to market disruptions. He argued that real-time, on-chain settlement can prevent the kind of trading restrictions seen in 2021. Robinhood ultimately plans to migrate its tokenized assets to Robinhood Chain, its own Layer 2 network.
The EF PSE team published a roadmap for enabling client-side zero-knowledge proof generation on everyday devices. The team says that modern consumer GPUs on phones and laptops are now powerful enough to accelerate core ZK primitives, making local proving practical. It notes that when proofs are generated on servers, the servers can see users' private inputs. The proposed roadmap focuses on building ecosystem standards and reusable client-side GPU libraries, prioritizing post-quantum ZK systems, and developing best practices optimized for mobile devices. Client-side GPU acceleration could make Ethereum privacy fast, seamless, and resilient to future quantum threats.
Uniswap will add Continuous Clearing Auction (CCA) token launches directly in the Uniswap Web App. CCA is a permissionless auction protocol that helps teams distribute tokens and bootstrap liquidity on Uniswap v4. The auctions will appear in a new Auctions tab on the Explore page, going live on February 2nd, starting with Rainbow's RNBW token launch.

Polaris introduced its stablecoin operating system designed to address the stablecoin trilemma of decentralization, scalability, and yield. Its native yield-bearing stablecoin, pUSD, will be backed by ETH and will capture volatility itself as a sustainable yield source, eliminating counterparty risk from T-bills. The protocol also features pETH, an ETH derivative with a rising price floor, and POLAR, its native governance token with real yield. Immutable, auditable, and forkable, Polaris aims to provide a trustless, censorship-resistant alternative to centralized stablecoins while enabling scalable yield that grows with adoption.
Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer by market capitalization, launched its U.S. dollar–pegged stablecoin, USA₮, on Ethereum mainnet. USA₮ is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, with Cantor serving as the reserve custodian, and aims to be fully U.S.-regulated and compliant with the GENIUS Act. The stablecoin currently has a market capitalization of $20 million. Tether's flagship stablecoin, USD₮, remains the largest stablecoin by market cap, with a total supply of approximately $186 billion. Tether is also among the top 20 holders of U.S. Treasuries.
Ethereum researcher Soispoke.eth proposed Fork-Choice Enforced Inclusion Lists (FOCIL) EIP-7805 as the headliner proposal for the Hegotá upgrade. Previously deferred from Glamsterdam, FOCIL strengthens Ethereum's censorship resistance by allowing multiple validators to enforce the inclusion of any protocol-valid transaction within a bounded timeframe. FOCIL reduces reliance on centralized block builders. As a headliner proposal, FOCIL aligns with the fork's focus on protocol-level guarantees for fair transaction inclusion. FOCIL's specifications have been reviewed, and prototype implementations exist across most Ethereum clients.
SSV Network, a permissionless DVT staking protocol, introduced SSV Staking, a protocol upgrade that shifts the network to an ETH-native, onchain staking and accounting model. The upgrade allows SSV holders to stake SSV and earn ETH-denominated network fees. Stakers receive cSSV, an ERC-20 token that represents their staked position 1:1, retains governance rights, and continuously accrues ETH rewards. SSV Network is increasingly favoring ETH-denominated validator clusters. The transition to ETH rewards enables more capital-efficient liquidation parameters.

The Ethereum Foundation's zkEVM team released a 2026 implementation roadmap to bring zkEVM proofs into Ethereum L1. The 2026 roadmap centers on six areas: standardizing execution witnesses and stateless guest programs; defining interoperable zkVM-guest interfaces; enabling consensus layer clients to verify zkEVM proofs; building reliable prover infrastructure; benchmarking performance and requirements; and formally verifying critical components. Enshrined PBS (ePBS), targeted for Glamsterdam, is a key dependency. The goal is to replace re-execution with zk proofs in attestation, fully integrating zkEVMs into L1.
OP Labs announced a long-term plan to make the OP Stack and Superchain resilient to future quantum computers. The goal is to ensure that the stack's cryptography remains secure in a post-quantum world. The roadmap includes the deprecation of all ECDSA-signed externally owned accounts (EOAs) on OP Mainnet and across the Superchain by 2036. Users will migrate by delegating control of their EOAs to post-quantum (PQ) smart contract accounts, with account abstraction via EIP-7702 identified as a viable migration path. The roadmap also includes transitioning OP Stack sequencers and batch submitters from ECDSA to PQ signature schemes. OP Labs is working with the Ethereum Foundation to move Ethereum away from BLS signatures and KZG commitments toward post-quantum alternatives.
Kraken launched DeFi Earn, a new product that allows its Kraken Consumer, Pro, mobile, and Kraken wallet users deposit cash or stablecoins into vaults that earn yield from DeFi lending protocols, including Aave. The funds are placed into Veda-managed vaults on Kraken's Ink L2 network, offering variable returns of up to 8% APY. Serving as a "DeFi mullet," Kraken handles all onchain complexity behind the scenes, no seed phrases or manual transactions required. Kraken charges a 25% fee on rewards for the service. DeFi Earn aims to deliver DeFi-level yields with the simplicity of Kraken's custodial exchange, including support for near instant withdrawals.
Bitwise is becoming a vault curator on the Morpho lending protocol and will launch a suite of non-custodial vault strategies aiming to broaden access to transparent, onchain yield. The first vault targets approximately 6% APY by allocating to overcollateralized lending markets and will be managed by Jonathan Man, Bitwise's Head of DeFi Strategies. Bitwise expects assets under curation in onchain vaults to double this year. Bitwise is a global asset manager with more than $15 billion in assets under management, including the ETHW ETF.
