Kassandra, researcher at the Ethereum Foundation's Kohaku Initiative, has released kohaku-cli, a terminal wallet for moving funds between public Ethereum accounts and private balances on Tornado Cash, Railgun, and Privacy Pools, now live on Ethereum mainnet.

The CLI lets users create or import a seed phrase wallet, shield funds into any of the three supported privacy protocols, and unshield back to a fresh public address, all from the command line. The wallet encrypts seeds on disk and supports Sepolia testnet and Ethereum mainnet transactions.

The demo included what Kassandra claims is the first atomic DeFi interaction comprised entirely of funds originating from Tornado Cash, executed live on mainnet. It's a major step towards a future for private-by-default UX on Ethereum. The CLI is built on top of the Kohaku SDK, the EF's broader initiative to make privacy a native, interoperable standard across Ethereum wallets. The SDK handles protocol integrations and is designed for wallet teams to adopt directly. The code is not yet audited and under active development.
