Account Abstraction Scheduled For Hegotá
Developers committed to ship native account abstraction in the Hegotá upgrade while leaving the specific implementation open to change.

It's Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Grab your coffee, the world computer is getting busy. Ethereum core devs agree to scheduled EIP-8141 Frame Transactions in the Hegotá upgrade. Glamsterdam will bring contract size limit increases to help devs deploy larger contracts. And Moonwell suffers an $8.7m loss due to a price manipulation attack.
Account Abstraction Scheduled For Hegotá
Ethereum developers moved EIP-8141 Frame Transactions to Scheduled for Inclusion in the Hegotá upgrade, committing to ship native account abstraction while leaving the specific implementation open to change. EIP-8141 introduces frame transactions, a new transaction type enabling accounts to define validation, execution, and gas payment logic in EVM code. The standard brings native account abstraction at the protocol level.
A competing approach, EIP-8130 proposed by Base, also remains under consideration. Both L1 and L2 teams are working toward a shared transaction type or minimum interoperability to support the same accounts cross-chain. Weekly account abstraction breakouts are being hosted on Tuesdays at 14:00 UTC. Developers will determine whether to move account abstraction to a headliner feature, by the end of the Hegotá scoping deadline, which is before Devcon 8.
Increased EVM Contract Size
Ethereum's upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade bundles EIP-7954 and EIP-8024 to tackle long-standing EVM developer constraints, expanding maximum contract code size from 24 KiB to 64 KiB and initcode limits from 48 KiB to 128 KiB while introducing new opcodes to bypass the historical 16-level stack depth ceiling.
The combined changes update contract limits, eliminating split-contract architecture workarounds and memory-spill overhead for complex applications. “Stack too deep” is a common Solidity compiler error that happens when a function has too many live values. The EIPs are now live on the Platåberget testnet ahead of the Glamsterdam mainnet activation targeted for late 2026.
Moonwell Price Manipulation Attack
An attacker manipulated the price of a low-liquidity token, $MAMO, supported as collateral on Moonwell, a popular lending protocol on Base. The attacker aggressively purchased MAMO tokens across thin-liquidity Aerodrome SlipStream and Uniswap V4 pools, pushing the price up approximately 8x. The attacker then deposited the acquired MAMO as collateral into Moonwell and borrowed approximately $8.7 million in cbBTC, ETH, USDC, and wstETH against the inflated $MAMO valuation.
The attacker subsequently swapped these borrowed assets into 8.7 million DAI, which currently sits in their wallet. The extraction left Moonwell holding MAMO collateral worth a small fraction of the borrowed amount, resulting in bad debt for lenders on the protocol. Following the incident, Moonwell set borrow caps for all Core Markets on Base to 1 wei (effectively zero), preventing new borrowing. The protocol also set supply caps for MAMO and WELL to 1 wei.
